SIZE: To 7.25kg (16lb) A powerful - large mouthed fish. A good sporting fish. An average fish will be between 30cm and 50cm (1ft to 20ins) A big Chub is around the 60cm (2ft) mark. DISTRIBUTION: The Chub is widely distributed in the Britain but absent from Ireland. Most rivers and some canals will have a population of Chub but predominantly found in rivers. HABITS: Chub are shoaling fish DIET: The natural diet includes anything edible that moves - insects, larvae, small fish. BAITS: Popular baits include virtually anything: Bread, minnows, clumps of maggots, mini-boilies, boilieas, meat, shrimp, tinned meats, cheese and worm. Big and smelly and Chub will give it a go! METHOD: A variety of fishing methods are popular with anglers for this fish, including float, fly, ledger and spinning.
