Free Fishing Cheshire

River Dee

The River Dee is tidal from Chester Weir downstream. The river is mainly canalised and the fishing rights are owned mostly by angling clubs and syndicates - but we are assured that there is still some more free fishing in the Chester city limits area. There is probably some free fly fishing on the River Dee in North Wales. What we have found in cheshire is below.

Open season on the River Dee for Salmon and Sea Trout is 3rd March to 17th October. The use of baits bylaw No.9:

3rd March to 1st June - Unweighted artificial fly under 5g only.

1 June to 1st October - Any method except maggots, pupae or non aquatic larvae.

1st October to 17th October - Fly and spin only.

Ground bait and feeder bait is not allowed at any time.
