Don't forget you need a Environment Agency - Game Fishing Licence to take Atlantic Salmon or other Migratory Game Fish.

There is only one species of Atlantic Salmon native to the waters of the UK.

The Atlantic Salmon has a range right round the UK entering major rivers to spawn. The Environment Agency has a reintroduction programme - to get salmon back into suitable rivers around the UK. Spawning usually takes place in November or December. Most of the spawning salmon will die after spawning, but a few will survive the ordeal and make their way back to the sea. These 'Kelts', as they are known, may even return to spawn twice more before dying.

Atlantic Salmon can attain a size of around 1.5mtrs (60inches) and weights up to 36kg (79lb)
