General Fishing InformationKnotsI recommend the free fishing waters contained in this web site in good faith. Besides the listed locations there are many miles of rivers where the fishing rights (riparian rights) are not owned by angling clubs or syndicates. Many of these areas are headwaters of rivers and some provide excellent wild fishing; all that is needed is a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence of the correct type and an approach to the landowner who may give permission to fish. Rod fishing is permitted in all tidal waters, however, much of the estuarine waters banks are privately owned and permission from the owners should be sought. Ordnance Survey 1:50000 series maps show the normal tidal limits (NTL) on river estuaries. Fishing from the shore thereabouts is free as it is considered a public right of way. If you are fishing in tidal waters for sea fish or eels; then an Environment Agency Rod Licence is not required. This is Free Fishing.
